 Amazonian Cardboard!

I am absolutely in love with this photo. One of my favorite MTextures for sure.

I have the habit of never recycling boxes from Amazon in the traditional sense. I keep pretty much all of them to store stuff in either right away or plan on using it in the future. This has resulted in having many, many empty boxes. Is this the start of hoarding?

Any who, it's lit from pretty much a 90 degree angle from the left side to get shadows going on the relatively flat surface of the cardboard and tape. Showcasing the printed arrows I knew was a must with this one.

EXTRAS!

It's been a few weeks since I've included extra shots with the featured MTexture, I figured it was time.

UPDATE:

I'm seriously thinking of starting up a YouTube series about the history behind specific typefaces. I'd go in to who designed them, any noteable uses, as well as the characteristics of that typeface. So be on the lookout for that soon!.

Have a great week everyone! @reply me on twitter with any comments :)

Doesn't that sound appetising???

This piece of bread was sitting on the counter for about a day or so. It lost all it's sponginess and gained this amazing cratered surface. From afar it reminds me of the surface of the moon, up close it looks like some sort of alien mountainside.

SHOT DETAILS
Nikon D90
Tripod
Nikon ML-L3 Remote
105mm Macro Lens
ISO-200

TIP FOR TODAY:
Textures are EVERYWHERE! Just look closely.

Have a great week everyone!

@reply me with with any thoughts or comments.

And yes, I am doing a little rebranding of "MONtexture" which will now be known as "MTexture", it just sounds better.

 REAL Movie Theatre Popcorn!

I'm going to guess that in 5 and a half years of working at a movie theatre, I've seen 13 trillion kernels of popcorn. That may be a little bit over what it actually is, but I think that's about right. This is a texture I see almost everyday, I usually have to sweep it up, and I actually think it is a bit beautiful.

Oh messy people, they'll never go away will they.

By the way, yes it's spelled Theatre, not theater.

Shot Details:
Nikon D90
Tripod
Nikon ML-L3 (this is very handy!)
105mm macro lens
ISO-200
.6 sec.
f/20

TIP FOR TODAY
When not using a tripod, hold your breath right before hitting the shutter. It can remove that little bit of movement causing a blurry image. (Remember this when using a point and shoot camera or your phone's camera aswell.)

Have a great week everyone and don't forget avoid that butter "flavoring" while at the movies, it usually has 100+ calories PER PUMP! Plus your fingers won't get all greasy so your drink slips right out of your hands.

Follow me on twitter for updates and feel free to comment (here, or on twitter), I always respond.

Packed Pixels!

First of all, huge congrats to the Green Bay Packers for beating the Steelers last night to become the Super Bowl champs.

This weeks MONtexture deals with pixels on the screen. This photo is specifically of my 1080p LCD LED TV. Everything you see on a screen is made up of tiny pixels which contain red, green and blue parts. Depending on what color the pixel is ment to show, there's different levels of each color. "Every" color is made up of those three colors. I put quotes around every because screens can possibly show every one of the infinite colors out there, but these try their best to portray a wide range of them.

Wikipedia article about the RGB Color Model.

Here's a 100% crop of the photo so you can see the individual pixels better:

As always, have a great week everyone and feel free to post below or @reply me with any comments!
